Massive Fire Breaks Out at EV Scooter Showroom in Lucknow, Spreads to Nearby Shop
A massive fire broke out at the Sarla and Sons EV scooter showroom in Lucknow’s Gola Bazar on Wednesday night, spreading to a nearby shop. Three fire tenders responded as investigators examined a possible battery short circuit.
As soon as the incident was reported, three fire tenders from the Hazratganj Fire Station rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations from multiple sides. Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other nearby shops and residential premises.
According to official information from the fire department, the watch room at the Hazratganj Fire Station received information at 8:27 pm on Wednesday about a major fire at a scooter showroom behind the Sadar Bazar police outpost in the Cantt area. Considering the seriousness of the incident and the densely populated market, three fire tenders were immediately dispatched under the leadership of the Fire Station Officer.
By the time the firefighters arrived, the blaze had engulfed a large portion of the showroom, and the flames were beginning to spread to a neighbouring shop. The fire department team secured the building’s perimeter and began spraying water through hose pipes to contain the flames.
The prompt response of the firefighting and rescue teams helped prevent the fire from spreading to additional shops or nearby residential premises. According to the fire department, the blaze was completely extinguished after a prolonged firefighting operation involving all three fire tenders.
Preliminary investigations have raised the possibility that a short circuit in the battery of an electric scooter kept inside the showroom triggered the fire. The presence of plastic components, electrical wiring and batteries inside the showroom is suspected to have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
The incident created a stampede-like situation in the market as people reacted to the fire. However, no casualties were reported, as people were able to move to safety in time.
Although no loss of life was reported, a substantial amount of material in the showroom and the adjacent shop was damaged by the fire. The total financial loss is currently being assessed. The incident highlights the extent of the damage caused by the blaze and the importance of determining its exact cause as the initial investigation continues.
